What is Giving Day?
LB Giving Day is a fun-spirited 27-hour fundraising drive that will give all members of the Beach family a special opportunity to show their Beach Pride and to come together as a community to support students and areas of greatest need on campus.
When is Giving Day?
LB Giving Day will be on March 15, 2018 from 12:00 am EDT to 11:59 pm PDT.
How can I make a donation?
LB Giving Day is an online campaign. However, you will have the option to:
1. Mail in your payment by March 15
2. Call our Giving Day hotline at (562) 985– 5294 or
3. Text LBSU to 51-555
Is it safe to make a gift online?
Absolutely! We take significant measures to ensure that all donor information is safe and secure.
Why should I participate?
Our goal is not only to raise much-needed funds but also to strengthen alumni, student, and volunteer engagement (“Beach Pride”) and to promote the culture of giving on campus.
What areas can I support?
This year, we are highlighting four high-priority student-focused initiatives – Basic Needs Program, General Scholarship Fund, Beach Fund (general unrestricted), and Study Abroad. However, you will have a wide variety of additional areas to select from when you click GIVE NOW – all gifts made during this time are deeply appreciated and will count towards our Giving Day total.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! The 49er Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All philanthropic contributions to the The Beach are tax-deductible as prescribed by law. You will receive a receipt shortly after you make your gift.
What is a matching/challenge gift?
When donors establish matching funds, the incentive to give is even greater because your gift has double the impact! For example, when you make a $100 gift to a project with a pledged match of up to $1,000, an additional $100 will go to that fund. The 1:1 match continues until the full amount of the pledge has been reached.
How do I spread the word?
This is our FIRST-EVER Giving Day! We need YOUR help to make it successful!
Becoming a Giving Day Ambassador is a great way to get involved and help spread the word!
Spreading the word about LB Giving Day is key to making our first campaign a success, so talk about Giving Day to your friends, colleagues and anyone who would be interested in supporting student success. We encourage you to share early and often through your social and personal networks, and especially throughout March 15th!
