Do you know that April 13 is Journalism & Public Relations (JPR) Day?

On this day, we celebrate the fields of journalism and public relations and take a moment to acknowledge the hard work of the students, faculty and staff of the JPR Department.

For us, it is also a day where we provide networking and professional learning opportunities for our students and honour outstanding graduates with our annual awards.

To commemorate this special occasion, we have three members of the Daily Forty-Niner from three different generations who want to share with you what the Daily Forty-Niner means to them and why they are investing in the future of student journalism.

For more than seven decades, the Daily Forty-Niner has helped students launch their professional journalism careers.  Please support us by making a donation and sharing our campaign with your friends and family.

$25.00 - Pays for one month of online storage fees • Pays for two months of our e-newsletter distribution system • Prints about 75 copies of our Commencement Special Issue.  

$75.00 - Covers our office equipment fees for one-quarter • Prints about 250 copies of our Commencement Special Issue • Helps us repair and maintain our current multimedia equipment. 

$300.00 - Purchases one new distribution box • Pays for one month of a section editor's salary • Supplements the cost to upgrade our podcast equipment.

$500.00 - Pays for one month of a managing editor's salary • Covers the cost of our university fees for one-quarter • Supplements the cost to upgrade our photo and video equipment. 

$1,000.00 - Purchases three new distribution boxes • Pays for half of our annual website and digital fees • Covers the cost of much-needed maintenance on our distribution golf cart. 

$3,000.00 - Pays for half our monthly payroll! • Purchases 10 new distribution boxes! • Renews our content management system for one year! • Covers the cost of printing our entire Commencement Special Issue!
