College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics
Creating opportunities through hands-on student research

Many CNSM students take their learning from the classroom into the lab, into the field, and even into the professional scientific community. Working side-by-side with our talented faculty researchers, students get the full lab experience – they go out into the field, collect samples, analyze their findings in the lab, and even present their work at professional conferences throughout the year. Research gives students great experience and improves their confidence. Being in the lab provides students with a safe space to practice, learn, and ultimately gain the skills needed to leave The Beach career ready!

“Research has helped me incredibly during my education by obtaining help and guidance from my research professor, and by being able to apply my chemistry knowledge. It also has helped me understand more about the classes I take, making me a better intuitive person when facing challenges...Lab research is a great way to make connections and build up skills for your future career. My lab mates and research professor make my lab experience very valuable and enjoyable since I can ask questions or ask for their help when making mistakes.” -Javier Rios, Biochemistry ‘25

Providing research scholarships allows many of our students to take advantage of these experiences that they would otherwise have to forego.  Thank you for your support!
