Power to the Press: Support Student Media

Power to the Press means investing in student voices, truth and the future of journalism at CSULB. Our student-run media outlets play a critical role in informing the campus, amplifying diverse perspectives and giving students real-world experience in ethical, independent reporting.

We’re raising $5,000 to support the essential costs that keep student journalism alive—student editor pay, publishing, equipment and digital tools that empower our reporters, editors and creators. When you donate, you’re giving students the power to report, question and tell the stories that matter. Your support helps ensure the press at CSULB remains strong, independent and student-driven.

A donation to student media matters now more than ever. Advertising revenue is declining, universities are facing reduced federal funding and newsrooms across the country are shrinking or disappearing altogether. At the same time, the need for credible, student-driven journalism has never been greater. Your support helps ensure student journalists can continue reporting accurately, ethically and independently, while gaining the hands-on experience that prepares them to lead the press of the future.

*Items listed for donation levels are examples of what that donation amount could provide for student media. It is not a guarantee of purchase for that item. All money raised will go into a fund and spending will be determined based on the needs of the media outlets. If you would like to make a monetary gift for a specific purpose, please contact Jennifer Newton, jennifer.newton@csulb.edu.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
All money raised through this BeachFunder campaign will go into the Beach Media Student Press operating account, managed by the Long Beach State Foundation. Funds raised will support the Long Beach Current (formerly Daily Forty-Niner), DIG magazine, ENYE magazine and the Beach Media Business Department. Donations are tax deductible.
