President’s Scholarships

Launched in 1995 by then-President Robert Maxson, President’s Scholarships have drawn more than 1,200 of the best and brightest to CSULB, where they have pursued their studies in a stimulating and supportive environment. This prestigious merit award has helped outstanding scholars thrive academically, develop as leaders, and pursue opportunities that shape their future careers.

President’s Scholars have gone on to remarkable achievements. Many pursue graduate and professional degrees at institutions such as Yale, Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, Duke, the Scripps Institute, and CSULB. Some have earned Fulbright scholarships to study abroad. Others enter the workforce immediately after graduation, contributing their skills to government agencies, media organizations, school districts, medical centers, and companies including Boeing, Disney, Honeywell, Northrop Grumman, Deloitte & Touche, Raytheon, and many more.

As the most distinguished merit award offered by CSULB, the President’s Scholarship plays a vital role in attracting and supporting high-achieving students from across California and the nation. Each year, 20 new Scholars join a community of about 85 students who excel in academics, lead in their disciplines, enrich campus life, and serve their communities.
