Laurén Chalmers '83 Beach Pantry
Every day at CSULB, thousands of students are striving to reach their academic dreams while facing challenges no student should ever have to endure. A recent Chancellor’s Office study revealed a heartbreaking reality: 12.5% of our students experience homelessness during the year, and 42% struggle with food insecurity, often unsure where their next meal will come from or how they will afford healthy, regular nutrition.
Students tell us that it is hard to focus in class when they do not know where they will sleep that night, when rent feels impossible to meet, or when they are running on an empty stomach. No one can learn under those conditions, yet many of our students are trying to do just that.
Your support can change this.
Because of generous Beach donors, we have been able to reach more students, provide stability during their most difficult moments, and help them stay in school. Your gift not only meets essential needs like food and sustenance, it also shows our low-income students that they belong, that they are valued, and that their community is standing beside them.
Together, we can ensure that no student has to choose between their education and their basic well-being.
Thank you for your support of this crucial initiative!
