The Daily Forty-Niner student-run newspaper is one of the oldest institutions on the CSULB campus. It is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, in conjunction with the university itself. Since its founding in 1949, the Daily Forty-Niner has been the paper of record for the university covering student life, the local community and the world, from the CSULB students’ perspective. In fall 2024, the Daily Forty-Niner changed its name to the Long Beach Current. The newspaper has won countless awards over the years and many staff members have gone on to work for some of the biggest publications in the country. To celebrate the past 75 years as the Daily Forty-Niner and help support student journalism as the Long Beach Current for the next 75, we are working to raise $7,500; $100 for every year we’ve been publishing
