Welcome TJ Bruce back to The Beach as Dirtbags Head Coach!
A former player and assistant coach with the Dirtbags, Bruce becomes the 9th head coach of the baseball program at Long Beach State. Bruce played for one memorable season with the program in 2004 as the Dirtbags reached the Super Regionals in a 40-win season while finishing the season ranked No. 12 in the nation. Transitioning directly into coaching, Bruce spent six seasons on the staff with Long Beach State as the team made three postseason appearances, including a run to the Super Regionals in 2005. Bruce went on to have a successful career with stints at UCLA, Nevada, and TCU. TJ Bruce will lead the iconic Dirtbags beginning with the 2025 season.
The Dirtbags Baseball team has been a source of camaraderie and brotherhood since 1954, providing a close-knit community for players who share a passion for friendship, sports, and competition. Fundraising is vital to the program’s ability to compete on a national scale. With the generous support of donors, the team is able to address priorities such as:
• Scholarships (including summer school!)
• Nutrition
• Recruitment
• Travel expenses
• Access to mental wellness resources
• Upgraded facilities and more!
