Track & Field

Long Beach State Women’s & Men’s Track & Field has a strong history of competing at every level including an international stage. With the generous support from donors like you, The Beach proudly delivers an unrivaled college athlete experience, producing leaders on the track and in the classroom!

  • The men’s and women’s teams won their first ever Indoor Conference Championships in 2024 and were only the 5th program in conference history to win both championships in the same year
  • Since 2006, Long Beach State has won 13 conference championships in those 19 seasons
  • LBSU’s Head Men’s & Women’s Track & Field Coach, LaTanya Sheffield, represented the United States as Team USA’s Women’s T&F Head Coach for the Olympic Games in Paris
  • Current athletes Hailey Fune’ (United States), Omri Shiff (Isreal), Sofia Lavreshina (Portugal), Rori Denness-Lamont (Canada), Aidan Turner (Canada), Tayah DeSousa (Canada) and Jadyn Palaschuk (Canada) all represented their countries in their Olympic Trials and/or national U20 championships this past summer
  • Freshman Aidan Turner also represented team Canada at the U20 World Championships this past August in Lima, PERU.

Your support for the program will greatly impact the success of the Track & Field team. With Director of Track & Field Andy Sythe (37th season) at the helm and the invaluable experience of Head Coach LaTanya Sheffield (12th season), the team continues to win Conference titles and advance athletes to the NCAA Championship where they become All-Americans.

We are ready to do it again and we are asking for your help!

This year, we invite you to support the team in raising $40,000 to help cover necessary equipment, team travel expenses, meals, accommodations, and more.

Thank you for your continued support and Go Beach!

Your gift could make DOUBLE the IMPACT! Be sure to ask your employer if they sponsor a matching gift program and have your gift amount matched or even DOUBLED!
