Beach Forensics

The CSULB Forensics Team (Speech and Debate) has a long history of competitiveness and excellence that has been echoed in this past competitive year. We had National Champions in Policy Debate at the American Debate Association National Tournament and in Prose Interpretation (Speech) at the International Forensics Association Invitational, putting us above other prestigious universities and Ivy Leagues. (Note--we were the only state school in the top 10 for Policy Debate). The team has continuously grown, both in size and competitiveness, in the past decade, and we are quickly approaching a time where our budget cannot support the rapid growth, interest, and travel requirements to field a large, nationally competitive program. This project is designed to help fundraise for the upcoming competitive year. In years following success like this one past, we have a large influx of interest in the program from potential undergraduate and graduate students to both compete and coach. Thus, as the team grows, so does the necessity for increased funds. This project is designed to help create more opportunities for competitive success, personal growth, and to advance the face of the University, putting us in conversations with names like Harvard, Dartmouth, and Penn. Our program is frugal and efficient. Our funds are carefully allocated to travel, with every dollar going towards (1) competition necessities and resources, (2) travel, (3) food, (4) entry fees, and (5) scholarships. Speech and Debate can be prohibitively costly, and given we are a public school competing against Private School budgets, we make every dollar count. Every dollar contributed here goes towards both making Speech and Debate accessible, and also towards helping CSULB continue our legacy of being one of the best public university programs in the country.
