Samyiah is a second-year psychology major with a minor in marketing. She is involved in multiple organizations on campus, such as the Black Leadership Counsel, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Queen to Queen. Samyiah also works on campus as the media manager for the Black Resource Center and as a peer educator for Project OCEAN, focused on suicide prevention training and education. Her goal is to obtain her Ph.D. in clinical psychology. 

Samiyah is a testament to the power of scholarship assistance. She recently received the CSULB Black Alumni Scholarship and explained that the scholarship has not only provided financial assistance but “inspired me to not only achieve my goals, but to always remember to give back to my community because it truly does take a village.”
