Long Beach Community Internship Program

The Long Beach Community Internship Program (LBCIP) establishes collaborations with Long Beach nonprofits and small businesses to close the loop on the Long Beach Promise, creating a bridge for students back to their communities to work, live, and thrive. LBCIP increases the number of CSULB students who complete paid internships while providing opportunities for students to do meaningful work in their own neighborhoods, all while they apply coursework to real world settings, hone professional skills, network, and explore local career options.

Collectively, 103 LBCIP student interns completed well over 9,500 internship hours during Spring, Summer, and Fall 2021, contributing over $330,000 of labor to the local Long Beach economy.

45% of students receive job offers from their internship sites or by referral following completion of their internship placements.

Over 80% of CSULB students work to support themselves and often their families, 71% of undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid, and 55% of bachelor's degree recipients are first in their family to receive a university degree. Internships open doors for these student’s job placement. However, for students who need parttime jobs and financial aid to pay for college, unpaid internships are impossible to complete. Gifts in support of the Long Beach Community Internship Program are an investment in people because receiving a paid internship can help a student pave the way to reaching their full potential.
