In the final TWO DAYS of this campaign can you help us reach even more crime victims? Every donation helps no matter the amount.
Your Donations Are Helping Those In Need Start Better Lives
Earlier today our clinician and case manager Kristen shared this touching client story.
"I have a client who I have been helping to plan an escape from their domestic violence perpetrator. Part of the safety plan we developed included having an emergency food voucher in case they need to leave in the middle of the night and cannot access a shelter and/or the domestic violence shelter is full. This client has come a long way since their entry to the LBTRC and is now not only enrolled in school, but also has a part-time job, which are both aiding them in their goal toward self-sufficiency and living a life free from trauma. This client is receiving both therapy and case management at the LBTRC and has expressed ongoing gratitude for us meeting them where they are at and providing a warm, nonjudgmental environment."
With only two days left in this fundraiser can you help us reach the lives of even more crime victims? Every donation helps no matter the amount. We are SO close to $2,000. Please help us to get there.
A client of Crystal's recently disclosed that she was in an unstable housing situation where her family has now turned her back on her. She feels that she only finds support here at the LBTRC. After giving her the food voucher and a blessing bag she cried and gave Crystal a huge hug saying that we have no idea how much this meant to her and that she will not have to worry about bothering her family for dinner. She is now receiving case management along with her therapy services and feels more optimistic about the future stating “There are people that care.”
By giving to this campaign you are showing victims that people care about them. You are giving them the hope they need to start down the path towards recovery.
Thank you for contributing to our campaign! We are getting closer to reaching our goal but we still need your help! Please share the campaign with your friends, family, & colleagues and encourage them to contribute to this important cause. Thank you for showing victims that our community cares for them and their well-being, and for allowing the LBTRC to provide this service.

Last week Vanessa received a crisis call from a victim of Domestic Violence. The victim explained that they were kicked out of their home by their abuser for calling the police to report the abuse. The victim left with only a small satchel, and without many important documents. The victim reported they had moved to Long Beach to be with this partner, and had no other friends or support in the area. Vanessa was able to meet with the victim to help them make decisions, explore options, and connect to domestic violence assistance. Vanessa also provided an emergency food voucher to a local grocery store. While the victim had been emotional throughout this meeting, when the voucher was presented they began to weep. The victim expressed their gratitude, and said that this offering made them feel like someone actually cared. Knowing that they had access to food made it easier to focus on all of the other concerns they had, like getting a restraining order.
Thank you for your contribution, for showing victims that our community cares for them and their well-being, and for allowing the LBTRC to provide this service.

Dear LBTRC Supporters,
I would like to personally thank you for your generous contributions of $1,675 to support the food vouchers for our community of survivors of crime and violence- with your assistance we are 33% closer to our goal of receiving $5000 for food. With support from individuals like you, the Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center is addressing the hunger crisis in this community. In just 3 months last year, we distributed $1500 in food vouchers, and this year we will be able to help so many additional individuals and families with your support. We are so grateful for your partnership in helping survivors of crime and violence in need to access food in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Your gift makes a significant difference, and I truly appreciate your support and generosity.
With deep appreciation,
Bita Ghafoori, Ph.D.

Director of Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center
Coordinator of Marriage and Family Therapy Program
We want to sincerely thank all the current donors to LBTRC’s emergency food voucher Beachfunder. Because of your support, we have raised 31% of our goal in the first week of the campaign! Thank YOU! We are getting closer to reaching our goal of $5,000 but we still have a ways to go. Please share the campaign with your friends, family, & colleagues to help us meet our goal of providing food vouchers to our clients for the next 18 months.
Your support of emergency food vouchers helps victims and their families meet the basic need of food while the Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center helps them navigate both the legal and emotional complexities that emerge after victimization.
Thank you again for supporting the LBTRC while we create a better quality of life by bringing mental health care, advocacy, outreach, education, and evidence based services to diverse victims of trauma and their families.
